Tackling Epicormic Growth Across West Sussex Highways

Earlier this summer, our team at RTT Services took on an exciting and challenging project across the highways of West Sussex. We were contracted to remove epicormic and basal growth from around 2,500 trees that lined the highways.

Epicormic growth, which often forms at the base of the trunk or along the branches, can obstruct roadways, reduce visibility, and compromise the health of the trees. Basal growth, on the other hand, tends to emerge from the lower trunk, creating a similar set of challenges for maintenance crews and road safety.

Our work required careful planning and coordination to ensure we maintained traffic flow while delivering efficient and professional service. With a dedicated crew and specialised equipment, we worked through the summer months to ensure these roadside trees were left in a healthier, more manageable condition, ultimately improving safety and aesthetics for everyone travelling through the area.
