Transforming Forestry Waste into Sustainable Solutions: Our Work at Turners Hill
This week has been a busy and productive one for the team at RTT Services. We’ve been working on a site in Turners Hill, near Crawley, with an important focus on sustainability. Our task? Chipping brash—the smaller branches and offcuts—to turn into biofuel. This process is part of our commitment to finding eco-friendly solutions for managing waste from forestry and land management projects.
Forestry work often generates significant amounts of brash, which can otherwise go to waste. Instead of allowing these by-products to pile up or decompose in landfills, we ensure they are repurposed for good use. Chipping the brash not only clears the site but also creates a renewable energy source: biofuel. This is just one way we support a circular economy by transforming what might be considered waste into something valuable.
Eco Benefits of Our Work
Reducing Landfill Waste
Forestry waste, if left unmanaged, often ends up in landfills, contributing to methane emissions. By repurposing brash into biofuel, we significantly reduce this environmental impact.
Promoting Renewable Energy
Biofuel is a renewable source of energy, playing a crucial role in reducing dependency on traditional, non-renewable energy sources such as coal and oil.
Improving Site Management
Turning brash into biofuel also helps us keep sites clean and tidy, which is essential for effective land management and replanting efforts.
Supporting the Circular Economy
Reusing by-products ensures that nothing goes to waste, which is a cornerstone of sustainable forestry and land management practices.
At RTT Services, sustainability is at the heart of what we do. Every project we undertake includes a focus on eco-friendly practices that benefit both the environment and the local communities we serve. By transforming brash into biofuel, we’re not just managing waste but actively contributing to a greener, cleaner future.
